These thoughts were triggered by the inability some have to go against their image…
‘Influencers’ should be encouraged to display more of who they truly are instead of constantly teaching others how to contort our psyches to fit into molds that don’t allow all of who we are to comfortably exist. I feel like more effort is put into showcasing the illusion of psyche perfection and the lack of acceptance for its imperfection is leading to a lot of delusion. I won’t discount the fact that we were all raised to ‘put our best foot forward’…but the reality is that the other foot will eventually be seen. And if we haven’t been shown how to accept the good and the bad…floors will be filled with dropped roses whose thorns pricked the side of unchecked egos…we’ve dissociated from. Acknowledging these rogue egos require the kind of transparent vulnerability that most have never been taught how to tap into because we live in a world that makes it easy to hide behind filtered realities. It’s rare to come across ‘influencers’ with large platforms who are influencing others to be all aspects of themselves because there is more money in selling cookie cutter images that are unattainably sustainable. These images reinforce the belief that it’s better to display all of what others want to see from us..and none of what we really look like…in order to become ‘household names’.
Most people in this current ‘social’ climate strive to be noticed. From my experience, attention is frantically sought out by individuals who didn’t get the kind they desired in their childhood. It’s that desire to be seen that motivates all ‘influencers’ to be in the eyesight of as many pupils as possible. This motivation has the potential to be positive in nature if approached with emotional balance. But it also has the potential to be detrimental to an unbalanced soul who allows their need for acknowledgment to overshadow the reality that their visibility is bound to whatever persona they created in order to become influential. And once locked into that self-made mold…many are unable to deviate from their avatar because their ‘pupils’ won’t let them. The best example I can give is the situation that happened at the award show for the ‘black skins’ recently. The host mixed up the names of two social media influencers and one of them has built their entire platform off the back of humility. But when a test of true humility was presented to this influencer, by way of not being recognized by a recognizable figure in our community, he unintentionally displayed parts of his psyche that lack this trait…IMO.
The thing with building a brand off of socially acceptable behaviors…is that God will allow success to come your way just so you can spread your message to as many people as He sees fit. But there will be a day when He requires you to stand on your ‘influence’ by being who you have convinced everyone else you are…in real time. I’m building my brand off of being a truth teller so there will come a day when God requires me to show both feet of my truth. The shadow work I do today is my preparation for that toe touch. Unfortunately for the misidentified influencer who appears to have allowed the platform he built, off of the better half of his personality, to blind him to the fullness of who he has the potential to be…he ended up posting his less desirable side. Then deleted it when his ‘followers’ gave pushback on him showing the parts of himself they didn’t subscribe to. My heart goes out to individuals who box themselves into a socially acceptable image that is literally unnatural to sustain. Because fitting into that box will always require the deletion of images that show others who God sees when He looks at you.
